- Mail Server
A mail server is the server your email client connects to for the purposes of retrieved emails that are waiting on the server to be downloaded. The mail server is also used for sending emails.
ℹ Incoming emails have two inherent settings and are used for specific reasons.
🔍 Incoming POP Account – This setting downloads your email from the mail server onto your computer’s hard drive. Once the email is completed downloading the mail server will automatically delete the hosted email.
🔍 Incoming IMAP Account – This setting synchronizes with your mail server. No emails are deleted. A mirror copy of the emails are available.
🔍 SMTP – This is the outgoing setting and should always have encryption to avoid hacked emails being sent by cyber criminals.
- Meta Description
Every webpage has place for a meta description. This description is visible in search results if deemed a quality description by high-end search engines. If the meta description is left blank the search engines normally draw information from the body copy.
ℹ Carefully worded descriptions make web pages stand out amongst the rest. Also there is place for calls to actions. A telephone number is an example.

Meta keywords were once important but have long since been disregarded by search engines as a reliable source for ranking a page for the targeted keyword groups.

Meta tags are used in the head section on a web page document and are used for a multitude of functions from defining the document type to specific tags such as Open Graph which is in turn used by Twitter feeds.

- Metric
A metric can be many kinds of results such as visitors per month, or visitors from your locale as examples. A metric is primarily used for measuring traffic trends weekly, monthly and yearly. Some tools allow for comparison charts that allow for interesting insights about activities.

- Negative SEO
There are many practices that were once widely used by search engine optimization consultants. Some of these practices were exploited and were consequently either ignored by search engines or the practice may negatively influence search results, or at worst case scenario, the page or entire domain is excluded from the search results altogether.
SEO experts call this practice black hat SEO. In present day it is done to competitors internet signals to interrupt and negatively affect their business online.
ℹ Negative SEO examples:
✔ Creating a false backlink profile that negatively affects a website.
✔ Repeating brand keywords with other commonly used keywords into google search bar to create auto suggestions.
✔ Duplicating a website over and over onto many servers with variations in keywords.
✔ Posting false reviews.
✔ Getting pages disavowed from the search criteria.
✔ Hacking a website and placing redirects or hidden backlinks and more.
- Niche
A niche is specific vertical aspect of a broader market reach where specific needs for customers can be met. Many small-medium companies target niches within their market to become the “go-to” company because of their expertise.
